King
Friend
Warrior
Shepard
These are the concepts Paul Meyer uses to define some of the key characteristics of man. With a room filled with 20 odd guys, we sit juicing out wisdom from him. For me, he has and still is living a life that fully represents a real man. From there way he treats his family to how he responds to strangers, Paul has showed me and some of the guys over the few weeks we have spent with him as he visits South Africa with the WSN project the essence of man.
His heart wrenching testimony of how he when he was a young man desired to leave a legacy has come into realization and manifestation in appropriate portions. As he talks, most of the guys in the room begin to share personal stories of how they had been influence by their dads either positively or negatively with what becomes apparent is that everyone has a story to tell!
I'm glad some of our students came over to our flat for this evening of fellowship, encouragement, discussion and prayer. Though there are missing dads and male role models in our society, I truly believe that these guys will come around to change that pattern and I've got faith that they will be able to entrust it onto other boys moving into manhood just as it has been entrusted onto us!
